Writing a children's book

is incredibly challenging.

How do you blend heart-wrenching character arcs with thrilling action sequences? How do you balance compelling prose with sharp, funny dialogue?

That’s where I come in.

My specialty is fine-tuning your book to help it succeed on every level. Writing a book is an epic journey—let me be the Sam to your Frodo!

The first page of your story

is the most important page.

It's also the hardest page to write well.

Send me your first page, and I'll  give you an extensive edit that will help to captivate your readers

(and literary agents) from the start.

Sometimes, you're not ready

for a full edit of your book, but you need some quick feedback.

In that case, send me one chapter, and I'll give you an extremely detailed edit to assess your story, your style, and much more.

A fresh perspective? Are you stuck and need to be jogged out of inertia?

Don't get caught in an echo chamber. I can help you brainstorm and develop a cohesive, compelling story.

This is the big one.
With this option, I'll provide a two-in-one copyedit and substantive edit.

This includes feedback on spelling, grammar, story, character, pacing, worldbuilding, structure, and anything else that may improve your book.

Q: How long does the editing process take?

A: As my client, you’re my top priority, and I’ll always work as quickly as I can.
The turnaround time depends on the length of the project, but if you have a particular timeline in mind, let me know. Whenever possible, I’ll gladly meet your needs.

Q: What age groups do you edit?

A: My wheelhouse includes everything from picture books to
young adult with an emphasis on middle-grade books. I’m also open to editing fantasy stories for adults if you think I’m the right fit for your story.

Q: Do you edit children’s science fiction?

A: Absolutely! Although fantasy is my specialty, I love a great science-fiction story. In fact, some of the books I’ve written are science fiction. Just be aware that I know more about minotaur sociology than nano-robotics.

Q: Do you offer sensitivity readings to make sure a story is
progressive and inclusive?

A: I do this for free in every edit. If I see any word or story choices that could be construed as insensitive, I’ll include those comments in my feedback. This includes language that may be problematic regarding race, culture, gender, sexuality, mental health issues, body shaming, and more. It’s your choice whether you make those changes, but creating an inclusive story will open it up to a wider audience.

Q: Which payment methods do you accept?

A: The easiest payments are e-transfers, wire transfers, and Paypal, but I'm open to most payment methods if something works best for you.

If you want to pay in installments, that's also perfectly fine.

Q: Why should I choose you over other editors?

A: For over twenty years, I’ve studied the precise details of storytelling—the word choices and sentence arrangements and story structures that enhance fiction writing. As a result, I can easily articulate how to adjust your prose and story elements to accomplish your goals. Also, because I’m a writer, I’m great at brainstorming new ideas, and I can offer suggestions on how to solve each issue.
